ISLAMABAD: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has proposed forming a working group to tackle its financial difficulties, with Rs 54.403 billion locked in receivables from various power sector entities.

In a letter to the Secretary of Power, Dr. Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry, NTDC Board Chairman highlighted that these long-standing “legacy balances” remain unresolved despite persistent follow-ups.

The breakdown of the receivables includes Rs 24.972 billion due to alleged Energy Market Operator (EMO) violations, Rs 5.713 billion in transmission and transformation losses, Rs 4.577 billion for auxiliary consumption, and Rs 20.276 billion for non-cash settlement of Government of Pakistan (GoP) dues against K-Electric.

Other pending amounts include Rs 20.185 billion from WAPDA-CPPA-G, Rs 1.757 billion from GENCOs, Rs 471 million from the Power Planning and Monitoring Company, and smaller amounts totaling Rs 1.041 billion for 132 kV transmission lines and BTA balances.

The issue has been raised repeatedly by NTDC representatives during NEPRA hearings. NTDC’s CFO has warned that the company faces potential bankruptcy due to these withheld funds, yet the matter remains unresolved.
